I fed them for the last time today until Spring is here again. I put a plastic cover loosely over the pond now to protect it from the falling leaves. These are just two fish that I caught with camera today coming up to feed in our pond.
I know I post a lot of the warm and whimsical on my site! But I am not trying to solve the worlds problems here! I don't have any complaints to air about politics, or my life, or zits or anything. I just wanted a site to share with my family and anyone who might like to stop by and take a deep breath and relax for a moment. Just stop and smell the Roses! (if you have a photo to contribute send it to daffodilsanddragons@hotmail.com and i will credit you in the post)

Yep, and don't forget the snake!
Eeek!
That's really cool that you have a pond with fish! But I have a question, because I don't know anything about it... & I think it's interesting...
Why not feed them until Spring again? Won't they get hungry?
amstaffie, When water temperatures go below 50 degrees in the pond, it is time to stop feeding the Pond fish. The fish are not capable of proper digestion in cold water and the food can decay and rot in their system, sending bacteria into their bloodstreams and killing them.
The reason I cover the pond with mesh is to keep the leaves from falling in the pond and remaining there over the winter. The leaves as they decay take oxygen from the water and if the pond freezes over the fish have less or no oxygen. After all the leaves have fallen I remove the mesh cover.
That's really interesting about the pond fish. Thanx for telling me... I learned something new!
you are a busy lady .always doing something new . Love the pic, what a nice pond .Can I come and stay with you LOL have a nice day .
